HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) Mode For most shooting conditions, the Impact 1000's HCD mode is key. Whether you're a rifle or archery shooter, the displayed yardage number takes into account the horizontal component distance, adjusting for shot angle without any extra user input needed. Simply adjust for wind and bullet drop based on the displayed range, and you're good to go.

LOS (Line of Sight) Mode For rifle shooters who require slope-correcting ballistic data, the Impact 1000's LOS mode provides the actual line of sight range without slope correction. This mode is ideal for long-range shooting with steep slopes, offering increased accuracy when calculating bullet drifts. Most users will find the HCD mode sufficient for their needs.

Scan Feature The Scan feature is perfect for ranging moving targets or smaller objects on uniform backgrounds in both HCD and LOS modes. By holding down the Measure button and scanning the laser back and forth, you can track changes in yardage as the crosshairs move across the target. A blinking 'S' indicates when Scan Ranging is in use.
